PPG-Katelyn

You may have seen a while back that I uploaded this title screen to a short I'm working on called "A Special Delivery" (which I plan to update since I'm not currently happy with how it looks.) I've been going back and forth whether to have it be a comic, an animation or both. I'm leaning more towards animation now. I'm currently taking a hiatus from "New Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog" because I felt I needed something smaller and simpler to practice animation on before I continue trying to tackle something big like NAoSTH, and since I've been into the not only the Sonic franchise but the Super Mario Bros. franchise as of lately, I decided to create a new series of shorts called "Video Game Community" which is a sitcom style series similar to "Sonic Boom" that focuses mainly on the Sonic and Mario characters while also including other video game characters and occasionally toy characters (most notably Derpy since she's part of the Sidekick Trio.) Unlike NAoSTH, it will have more of an anime style look to it like with "Sonic X."

The first episode "A Special Delivery" has been fully scripted and storyboarded; and I'm currently animating the first scene. All the main characters here currently have voice actors except Luigi (though I don't know yet whether or not Tails will still be voiced by the same actress as he is in NAoSTH since she hasn't said anything yet) so if anyone's up to voice him, let me know. I'm hoping to get this short done some time early this year.
UPDATE: Luigi has now been casted.

I've been practicing with the animation for the long awaited fan project "New Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" and it's been having the best progress it's ever had with animation. I've been improving a lot and I try to work on episode 1 at least a little bit each day. Thanks to "Not Another Sonic Blog" on Tumblr and some tutorials on YouTube (most notably from "Happy Harry's Huha 2 How Tos" and "Draw With Jazza"), I've been learning a lot of animation techniques and I want to make sure that the animation and editing looks it's best before the episode is posted online. One thing that's been holding me back though is that two of the main characters are currently lacking voice actors. If anyone is open to voice Tails or Robotnik, please let me know.

Update: Tails and Robotnik have no been casted.

I've been browsing through old Sonic websites I used to visit a lot. It's been a reminder of how much the world of Sonic fan projects has changed. It used to be that any Sonic fan film or cartoon that was in production never made it to where it was animated due to the lack of animators, and it still is that way for the most part, but thanks to technology improving, we're starting to get fan films like Sonic Prologue and Eddie Lebron's Sonic fan film. While the animation in those may not be perfect, they still look pretty good for fan films.

Now one fan series that's been on and off with it's production for over a decade is 's series "The New Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog." She started working on it in 1999 and I discovered in in 2003 when I was only 11. The original Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (which I used to watch daily) was just taken off Toon Disney the previous year and I wanted it back so I was excited when I found out that there was a fan continuation of it in the works. I then saw it was having difficulties being made so I wanted to help get it made. Over the years, both Toni and I have been frequently switching between trying to get it animated, making it a comic series, and giving up, but I've always wanted to see it animated.  My artwork and animation skills have been improving over time so whenever I continue working on the animation, it always looks better.

I still work on it every now and then since it's a sentimental project.  Yesterday, I was browsing through archives of the old NAoStH website and I was able to get most of the storyboards for the first episode "Eggrobo", so with that and the comic version, I have a lot of reference images and now I'm really in the animating mood for it. I'll be working a lot on the animation, but I don't know how soon it will be finished since I still need to get the voices for the episode done.
