I've been browsing through old Sonic websites I used to visit a lot. It's been a reminder of how much the world of Sonic fan projects has changed. It used to be that any Sonic fan film or cartoon that was in production never made it to where it was animated due to the lack of animators, and it still is that way for the most part, but thanks to technology improving, we're starting to get fan films like Sonic Prologue and Eddie Lebron's Sonic fan film. While the animation in those may not be perfect, they still look pretty good for fan films.
Now one fan series that's been on and off with it's production for over a decade is
's series "The New Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog." She started working on it in 1999 and I discovered in in 2003 when I was only 11. The original Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (which I used to watch daily) was just taken off Toon Disney the previous year and I wanted it back so I was excited when I found out that there was a fan continuation of it in the works. I then saw it was having difficulties being made so I wanted to help get it made. Over the years, both Toni and I have been frequently switching between trying to get it animated, making it a comic series, and giving up, but I've always wanted to see it animated. My artwork and animation skills have been improving over time so whenever I continue working on the animation, it always looks better.
I still work on it every now and then since it's a sentimental project. Yesterday, I was browsing through archives of the old NAoStH website and I was able to get most of the storyboards for the first episode "Eggrobo", so with that and the comic version, I have a lot of reference images and now I'm really in the animating mood for it. I'll be working a lot on the animation, but I don't know how soon it will be finished since I still need to get the voices for the episode done.
